Evolute

Every unique combination of two creates a different being. Even small degrees of change within one side alters the outcome of the two.

I chose the word evolute, because it refers to a curve. It has the same etymological origins as evolution, which is unrolling or rolling out. This natural progressive movement opens us to the encounter of development. Curves are widely used illustrations when depicting transformation, change or charting movement from one point to the next (elevated point) in an echelon. More importantly, curves are soft and osmotic just as we are when embracing (our environment), when melding ideations, taking us to new planes.

Here, I used transparent stain varnish in red and blue. Applying it as a film to two similar photographic images on paper, they signify two opposing forces. Mixing the two red and blue creates a unique violet. When adding more or less of one color to the mix, the hue changes. Applying it to another similar image signifies the fusing or joining of the two within the same environment. Through combining, they initiate a new being with different physical properties than if separate.
